default. In many cases, they voted as the majority of those they represent would have wanted them to. That's their job. Steve Pearce doesn't represent my values, and I have never voted for him. But a majority of this district has. That's the way a representative democracy works. None of that bars me from educating the rest of this district about his vote, or the ramifications of same. And that's what I'll be doing from now until the next election.

Note: Senator Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling. I'm sure you've heard that from all the RW crazies. And like this time, there were enough votes to raise it anyway.

Note II: Hold them accountable. No need to call them names.

I'm aware of the RW crazies vis-à-vis Obama's vote.  And the context was of course, a statement, not a heart-felt desire to see the economy go down in flames.
RW crazies notwithstanding, at least some of these folks are serious about it.
Rachel Maddow recently aired a clip from before the 2010 election, showing that the GOP's intent was to shut down the government, should they get control of the House.
So, if not bastards, then how 'bout miscreants?
Holding them accountable, given the status quo (gerrymandering, the supremes, media that says 'both sides are doing it', lobbyists, voter suppression, etc. ad nauseum) is an uphill task.  Especially in an off-year.
It would be nice if a non-partisan (is that even possible?) task force laid out the boundaries.
It would also be nice if we all got ponies for Christmas, I suppose.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
