At the center on W Gray in Houston about 11 AM. I found a parking place without too much difficulty although most places were filled.
On the way in I said hello to a young African-American guy who was wearing a Jenifer Pool T-shirt. She is running for an open City Council seat, at-large, position 3. I called her after voting. She is a good listener, has the savoir faire needed to be on the Houston City Council. She would make history as a transgender Council member.
I read that our Mayor Annise Parker made it a point to vote early in the morning. I voted for her, of course.
I had Dave Wilson on my ballot for Houston Community College board. No thanks, I voted for incumbent Bruce Austin. Mr. Wilson has been a perennial opponent of the glbt movement, in which I have been active some 40 years.
I voted for the county bond issues to preserve the Astrodome and for a detention facility for arrested persons that would combine facilities for city and county and simplify matters.
If you live in the Houston area, please do urge all your friends to vote or even volunteer in some campaign. Those of us who want Houston to pass a glbt non-discrimination ordinance need to look strong and committed going into a future Council meeting.
I included links to 2 campaigns in case some of you would make donations.
Tip O'Neill said that all politics is local. Certainly, many national leaders start out local. Our current President was once a state senator from a Chicago district.
If you live in Texas but not in Houston you will have on your ballot, at the very least, 9 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. That document is extremely cluttered. I was inclined to vote for public spending but against items that were too specific. One was about Hidalgo County. Anyone know where that is?

    Censorship is rogue government.
