    ...Republicans only blather on about "activist judges" and the superiority of a "vote of the people" when it suits their purposes. Thank goodness the latter excuse for bigotry is rapidly becoming less and less effective for them as public acceptance inevitably grows. IIRC polls have shown that a majority of New Jerseyans are okay with marriage equality, and Christie, whatever else he is, is probably smart enough to know that he's on the losing side.

      I always remind my female Republican friends/co-workers that if it were up to the "voting public" of the times, we would have been denied the vote for generations.  Certainly through the early 60's - maybe even today.

      he represents because a plurality of people in New Jersey are for marriage equality as you say.

      That's why the blather about "activist judges" is galling.  Polls show what the people want and the judges were in line with that. Christie is not.
