    I mean, your description sounds both violent and about what I would expect from such a movie. But are we talking about something along the lines of one of Mel Gibson's movies (I'm thinking Passion of the Christ or Apocalypto) or maybe something by Quentin Tarantino? Or is it violent but less graphic?

    I agree, people shouldn't find it too shocking. But remember, things like laughter can be a defense mechanism and I wouldn't say that they are actually finding it funny. Perhaps, even if they know the history intellectually, seeing it on a gigantic screen is simply too much to be able to deal with right away and they went away from the movie and had a chance to better deal with it later.
