    of church and state.  Current interpretation of the Constitution does not call for strict separation of church and state.

    From Lemon v Kurtzman:

    Our prior holdings do not call for total separation between church and state; total separation is not possible in an absolute sense. Some relationship between government and religious organizations is inevitable.

      religious institutions all right... it's called tax exemptions.. to the tune of 200 of them.  Pull those props and those institutions will all fall down. We are financing religious institutions with our tax dollars and if that ain't a big violation of church/state, then James Madison was just whistling in the wind (apparently he was).
