policy at a better rate on the exchange?

I'd like to start a new meme: "No means no" is a misnomer. It should be "Only 'Yes' means yes." Just because someone doesn't say "No" doesn't mean they've given consent. If she didn't say "Yes", there is no consent.

    •  It is hard to tell (0+ / 0-)

Even with the exchange it is hard to tell if the plans are the same and exactly what, if any differences exist between the plans.

It appears that I am comparing apples and apples and that the non-Exchange plan is cheaper.  That makes sense to me because they are still able to charge me more if they determine that I have a pre-existing condition.  The exchange plan cannot discriminate on that basis, so they need to charge more for that.

      •  In CA the Exchange plans will have fewer (0+ / 0-)

in network doctors and hospitals.  Blue Shield and Blue Cross are dragging their feet to put the info out.

I also have my own plan and Blue Shield tells me I can keep my very high deductible plan but if my health status changes then they can raise my rates.  But I'll have a larger selection of doctors in the plan once I hit by $5200 deductible. My plan is Grandfathered and I don't expect a rate hike because they've been sending refunds for the past 2 years.

There are only 2 PPO plans in any of the 19 regions of CA so I'm waiting for the doctor lists before making a final decision.  They also don't have the out of network charges up on the site yet either.
