This will be repeat insanity, and this execrable jackass LePage will win -- again -- because of some massive egomania. See Nader, Ralph (spit).

Cutler's ego trip is expensive for the rest of us, but look closely at some of his fundraiser photos and donor lists.  There is a reason you see prominent Democrats there - huge bonuses for friends of Eliot if he wins, just like there were huge bonuses for friends of Angus.

We don't need to squash the ability of people like Cutler and King to get on the ballot; in fact, I can argue that it should be easier.  What we need instead, are runoff elections.  I prefer the instant runoff alternative, but a second campaign and election pitting the top two vote getters against each other would be OK too.  I do not care if those elections pit two Republicans against each other in bright red districts, and two Democrats against each other in the blue areas.  I do not care if both legacy parties are not represented in the final contests for the Governor's mansion.  Let there be Greens competing against Independents if that is how it all works out.

What we need to end are pluralities for LePage, and pluralities for King and Longely for that matter.  LePage is so awful that he is a poster child for ending the failure of our election laws to produce a majority winner, but a close look at the terms of King and Longley make the same case convincingly.  There was a lot not to like.

    •  LOL. Why would Cutler get the hell out? (1+ / 0-)

He lost the last race by 2%, and got double the votes of the Democrat. Sounds to me like the Dems are the Nader-esque spoilers who should step aside if the main goal is to get rid of a GOP governor.

When you get twice the votes of the Democratic candidate, you aren't running because you are an egomaniac; you are running because you are the most electorally viable alternative to the Republican.

Sorry, I know that goes against the Daily Kos mantra of "All Democrats, All the Time", but reality is sometimes like that.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!

      •  Why is it that everybody's fine with saying (0+ / 0-)

"Oh we can't hold traditionally Democratic views in this state, or that district and win, so you just have to suck it up and vote for a conservative Democrat!"

        but nobody's OK with saying

"Oh, we aren't winning with a Democratic candidate, but there's this independent who's pretty good who looks like he might be able to hand LePage his ass."

I tried to go online to find a similar bear head...but when I searched “Big Bear Head” it gave me a San Diego craigslist ad entitled “Big Bear needs some quick head now” and then I just decided to never go on the internet again.--Jenny Lawson

    •  Uh, dude, he only lost by 2%. (0+ / 0-)

Shouldn't we be putting our money behind him?
What are his stands on issues?

I'm sorry but getting rid of this f**ker is priority one. Making the seat Democratic comes second, as far as I'm concerned--unless the guy you're replacing him with is another crazypants.
