      But the number of uninsured people in Massachusetts that are now eligible and weren't before is fairly small (estimated 45,000). There are changes in costs and where exactly you'll get your health insurance from, but it doesn't actually add a ton of new people into the pool.

        ...but the bottom line is that every person (especially a younger, healthier person) who enters the system is one more to strengthen it.

        Besides, Vermont "only" has about 56,000 uninsured people, and they're certainly being counted.

        Plus, according to the Kaiser foundation, the total # of  uninsured in MA is around 265,000...not sure how many are eligible for the exchanges but still a lot of people.
