    "Literally a handful of enrollments [are] coming through to the largest insurance companies every day," he says. "Just a handful, like maybe 10 or 20 or 30. So anecdotally, the enrollments are very, very, very low."

      ...are indeed a bit ambiguous. Washington State and Oregon have a lot of Medicaid recipients in there, which "don't count" depending on what it is that you're measuring, and so on. Some of the other numbers are fuzzy and changing (see Kentucky a few days ago and today), and so on.

        reports the White House itself, as of yesterday, is claiming 500,000 new applications for insurance or Medicaid since the exchanges opened.

        I think NPR just got the story wrong, and given Mara Liasson's well-documented biases, I think they did it intentionally.
