  •  And what good does this do: (16+ / 0-)
The serial number of the stolen rifle has been added to a national database used by law enforcement to track firearms
IF this gun is found at a crime scene, then they can figure out who it originally belonged to.
But that gun may have changed hands 5-10 times before it was used in that crime and captured. Because there is no registry, no title transfer, as their is with a car, there is no record of how many times that gun has been sold.
Every crime gun starts off as a legally manufactured and sold gun. It's first sale is always to a clean buyer, but somehow hundreds of thousands of guns get into the hands of criminals.
Because there is no record of ownership and transfer of ownership, criminals can easily sell stolen guns to other criminals. So can law abiding gun owners. No paper trail, no way to get caught.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

    •  And guess where the brand new gun is going to be. (0+ / 0-)

Because after this gun owner hollers for community backup because the gun went missing, its a trip to the gun store to get another.

Haw haw haw gun laws need to be repealed.

Only gun owners can control their guns and they say oopsie way too much. I lost it, I forgot it, it just went off. Support Gun Kill Speed Limits and Gun Ownership Speed Limits.
