pet sitter.  I go through bags and bags of jerky.  Dogswell is good although some of my clients with sensitive tummies have trouble with different 'flavors'.  To avoid that issue, I've taken to using Colorado Naturals. Just chicken, nothing else. So far, so good.

    Thanks for passing this along!

No, I will NOT sit down or shut up...but, thanks for askin'!

Had never heard of them and did a quick Google search.  Turns out there is a recall.

Due to a voluntary recall issued Wednesday by a manufacturer, five Petco brand Natural and Smoked Pig Ears, as well as eight Colorado naturals Jerky items, all with a “best by” date between April 20, 2014 and Oct. 3 2014, are currently unavailable at Petco. The products were voluntary  recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please see affected product list below.
I love the smell of the Dogswell, and it has added glucosamine which my vet recommended for my older dog.  I'm going to investigate the Purina Pro Plan Roasted Slices that Lily O Lady mentioned above.

My local Petco has been very good about monitoring the batches. (It helps that one of my trusted friends works there and knows the inside scoop.) They don't want any lawsuits.  The product is unavailable on occasion which tells me the process is working. I have seen distinct changes in the product as they improve their quality.

I do understand they are dealing with suppliers who've had their own issues with salmonella. I'm convinced this is all tied into our austerity level inspections for meat products.

Thanks for checking it out & the tip to be careful.
