  •  Coats! Jackets! More Coats (7+ / 0-)
Cheers to unloading several coats to a coat drive.
I have been sewing for more than 50 years. Coats and jackets have always been my addiction.  Before moving to my little house out here in suburbia (emphasis on little) I had the entire bottom floor of a shotgun style house in the downtown area of Cleveland, a feature of which was several very large closets. I was in the habit of making a new coat for every winter and can't tell you how many jackets I made (I'm thinking at least 25!)

I thought I had genuinely downsized when I was preparing to move. Ummm, big difference between what I thought would work and what my new closets would handle!

About a month after moving here, I had my friend take me to the local Dress For Success office to deliver 13 full length, fully lined coats, 3 trench/rain coats, and 18 jackets! The ladies were delighted but then looked at me kind of amazed when I said I had made them all.

I've since stopped making coats, no space. But, I have to admit, I've made several jackets since being here. In fact, I'm in the midst of making a swing style jacket out of engineer's denim at the moment. Now to pick which jacket has to find a new home before the new one is finished! Anything but my Harris tweed patchwork with HT I purchased on the Isle of Lewis & Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland at Mr. Robertson's mill!

I brought home nearly 30 meters, or, as I say, I left a whole lot of American overtime behind that day. :-) Some things you just can't give up, LOL.

    Peace.

PS: Those numbers don't include blazers. I don't care what anyone says. Blazers are different and I'm just not ready to talk about that thank you very much.

    Creativity is intelligence having fun.
