      so simplified. Most beans need to be soaked overnight, then cooked slowly or utilize a crock pot. Canned beans, I add some water & cook 20 or so minutes longer.
       Try different spices and see what you (& family) like. I love sage & marjoram. I put them, mainly sage, in a lot of protein dishes.
       People just starting to eat healthy, it seems a bit hard, but it gets so easy.
       A lot of these type of diaries, people are looking for health as they have a health issue. The body has miraculous powers to heal. The first health place I worked at (1973) a health juice co., the owner had been told by his doctor he had 6 months to live. It was 10 years later & he was STRONG.
