Scott Walker Investigated in Secret Wisconsin Probe

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Monday that a secret investigation has been launched into possible campaign violations. The Wisconsin governor, who has survived a recall election and a previous probe relating to his conduct while serving as Milwaukee County executive, may be under investigation in connection to activity that has occurred since he was elected governor in 2010, particularly during the 2012 recall election...

The Journal Sentinel also reported that the conduct of “a current legislative leader,” widely believed to be Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, is part of the investigation as well. Fitzgerald did not return a request for comment...

It speaks volumes, as Cog Dis points out (link at the bottom of the diary).

story Tuesday morning.  But it just showed up on my google search tonight.  Word IS getting out.

Walker declines comment on new criminal probe

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first reported on the new investigation Monday. On Tuesday, the Journal Sentinel reported (http://tiny.cc/... ) that Walker deflected questions about the probe, calling it a "side bar" issue and saying he didn't want to get "pulled into" questioning because of the investigation's secrecy rules...

"It defies logic that a probe into criminal activity which began early last year has anything to do the emergence of a strong challenger to him," said Wisconsin Democratic Party chairman Mike Tate in an emailed statement. "The public has a right to know if their governor is a target of this criminal probe, if he's provided testimony or if his actions spurred this probe."

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty (Antonin Scalia, John Boner, or Scotty Walker (pick your favorite) said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less."

Special Prosecutor Named In Investigation Of Possible Criminal Activity Surrounding Scott Walker Recall Election

Just when Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker thought it was safe to come out and play, we learn that yet another John Doe investigation is underway into possible criminal campaign violations tied to last year’s effort to recall Walker and his Lt. Gov., Rebecca Kleefisch...

According to sources, the new John Doe effort—which is reported to have quietly begun in February of 2012—is focused on potential criminal activity involving campaign law violations occurring after Walker’s 2010 election to the Wisconsin statehouse while the earlier John Doe dealt with issues arising during Walker’s time as Milwaukee County Executive.

The new investigation is said to be gathering considerable steam and is now being pursued in at least five Wisconsin counties...

        •  Wow, that's brutal (4+ / 0-)

and it goes on to talk about how Walker has made magic pay raises for his cronies by using phony job transfers.

I also checked out the article that referred to one of those folks who got the Very Special Walker Pay Bump - the guy whose miracle jobs numbers saved Walkers bacon during the recall election.

That, too, was a brutal look at the truth;  something we don't get here in Wisconsin.

Interest blossoming in Wisconsin's latest John Doe probe

For a few days, the story circulated on the leftie blogosphere. Then, on Thusday, Talking Points Memo weighed in with a story detailing the John Doe process, a secret investigation overseen by a judge similar to a federal grand jury...

Notably absent from the lineup is MSNBC, which is usually on top of the Scott Walker watch. But now that national interest has been piqued, we're likely to see news of the new John Doe probe show up in the coming days in the traditional national media.
