  •  Stella - I think the GOP is privately happy (4+ / 0-)

    with the mini-bargain. They really didn't like the tax increases at the end of 2012 or the defense cuts, but they really like the other sequester budget cuts and the rapidly declining deficit, what I call the "Mini-Bargain". The GOP will not put new revenue on the table, unless it is part of a comprehensive tax overhaul of the corporate or individual code and they will never give up the sequester cuts for social programs. I think that all leads to a stalemate, and the sequester cuts will increase.

      Was simply saying, there's no reason we have to take a defensive stance on entitlements when the GOP maintains an offensive stance on the sequester.
