  •  I've done a quarter of what you have (5+ / 0-)

accomplished, probably less and I dislike all of it. I dislike cleaning, somewhat tolerate laundry, am unskilled at cooking and the list goes on. I made a frittata for dinner this evening with fresh eggs from our farm box, spinach, potatoes and feta. It was "OK." I consider it a success though because it didn't stick to the pan and we ate it all. I've been helping my daughter study for 3 tests tomorrow so I haven't done the dishes yet.

I'm curious, what is "a normal day's work?" I'm tired just reading how much you have accomplished.

    •  That's pretty normal for what I grew up (4+ / 0-)

doing/ seeing grown women around me do.

On the one hand, I don't have the dogs I breed and train to deal with as well, nor a garden to finish putting to bed. On the other, I do have fibromyalgia and a largely disabled father in law with mild dementia to deal with.

I normally would have relaxed while my nail polish dried (my toenails are now purple) and crocheted or quilted or done mending while watching a documentary. But the mending's caught up (at least til the laundry comes out of the dryer; I have underwear of mine to darn)  and I just got my last sewing project done yesterday and haven't had another leap to mind for doing.

Most days with the fibro I wind up cooking two meals, at least once leaving the dishes in the sink, and probably running a load of laundry. On a really good day I can vaccuum a little before my back catches up with me.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.

      •  You are an inspiration. (3+ / 0-)

I'll finish the laundry in the morning, dust off the bakers rack and clean the bathrooms too. I've already dusted and vacuumed the front room so now it is just a question of reminding daughter that all of her possessions actually have their own places, a concept she does not understand or care about.
