As Texas shows.  How about classist, where poorer neighborhoods get fewer voting locations?

Hell, Republicans want to deny the vote to anybody except old pissed-off white guys.

Ithink complaining about voter ID takes away some time needed to focus on getting poor neighborhoods more voting facilities. The fact that a lot of Obama voters had to stand in line for hours was clearly more racist neglect compared to some voter ID law. But democrats are missing the bigger problem whivh is voting access. You can easily turn the tables on the repbulivans by saying voter ID should be free and available to secure at voting locations. The moderates in the party will then back off of the voter ID requirement. Quite frankly, voter ID does not bother me one bit. Will I support it, not really, because it is low priority as it has been proven fraud is miniscule.

continue the disenfranchisement of a portion of the population not likely to vote R (or Tea party).  You must recognize this?

The new law passed in Texas requires a divorced women to have proof of her maiden name, married name, and divorce papers according to the female judge who is impacted by the change.  I had to take a day off work, go to two county record locations and pay for proof of my divorce, 20 years after the fact, in order to re-fi my home.

I have to hold IRS tax filings for a shorter period of time.  The new Texas law is discriminatory!

a single-minded scam: "How do we decrease voting --- especially by the wrong sort of voters?"

Whether it's gerrymandering, voter ID, vote challenging, or misallocation of voting machines, Republicans seem to be endlessly energetic and inventive in their desire to game the system. What a pity they couldn't harness a bit of that attention on national problems.

If it turns out that the Republicans are facing an impossibly uphill fight in the 2016 presidential election, there's a good chance we'll see a resurrection, in states that have gone blue in presidential elections but have Republican governors & Republican legislative majorities, of the schemes to apportion electoral votes by congressional district rather than the present "winner take all" allocation that almost all states use.
