  •  YES. (10+ / 0-)

I know several women who were horrified at the way that woman hauled that baby all over the country, to night rallies, etc.  Shouldn't he have been in bed??  It was disgusting the way she used her baby as a political prop.

      political prop
a gaggle of men.  Aircraft carriers, war memorials . . . all the same.  All props.

Oh, and don't forget your flag pin

    •  Agreed, but that is not what my neighbor (5+ / 0-)

meant by her comment.  She focused on the fact that Palin wanted abortion abolished, and her opinion was that any woman who wanted to abort a child with a mental disability was no one's business, certainly not Palin's.

My neighbor had a niece that had kids already when she discovered her fetus had Down's and she aborted.  Catholic, all of them.  But my neighbor justified that with saying those other kids did not sign up to take care of their sibling for the long haul and so abortion was the only option.

I never would have thought she would allow for the idea for an abortion for others, thinking she would just steal away for her own family and let everyone else live under rule of law against abortion if Palin had her way.  But she was able to think of abortion in terms of a "decent" (in her mind) woman who had no choice.  Therefore, Palin became repugnant to her.

What Palin did for my neighbor was to put that reminder front and center on the stage for everyone to see night after night.  I think Palin thought it would have the opposite effect on people.  By the way, she didn't care much for Romney either.   Said that it didn't look to her that he adopted any kids and yet he wanted abortion illegal.  So her thinking moved even more in four years.

      1. What does it mean? 2. And then what?
