If it weren’t for drone attacks killing terrorists, there would undoubtedly be more dead innocent American victims.

Now, when drone attacks go horribly awry and innocent life is lost, do you really think President Obama doesn’t feel guilt?

Also, I can’t help but notice you depict Obama as rather simian and ignore the obvious feature – oversized ears – that is usually the focus of cartoonists. Care to explain your depiction?

How about I believe in the unlucky ones?

    •  What terrorists? The ones they tell us about? (4+ / 0-)

And where's the evidence that more "innocent" American lives would be lost if Obama doesn't keep killing people with drones?  The evidence I've seen is that killing people with drones creates more enemies therefore increasing the risk of terrorism even more.

We know the drone attacks are killing innocent civilians. We only have the administration's word that terrorists were killed.

There is strong evidence that the drone strikes are actually creating more terrorists:

The list of former U.S. officials who believe drone strikes create more enemies than they eliminate juts got a little bit longer.

“Drone strikes take out a few bad guys to be sure, but they also kill a large number of innocent civilians,” writes Nabeel Khoury, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Yemen from 2004 to 2007. “Given Yemen’s tribal structure, the U.S. generates roughly forty to sixty new enemies for every AQAP operative killed by drones.”

This is an old trope for those of us who have been criticizing the drone war for years. But the notion that it creates blowback is gaining in popularity of late. CNN, for example, just ran this segment, entitled “In Swat Valley, U.S. drone strikes radicalizing a new generation.”

Your just repeating Bush/Cheney cabal/right wing talking points.

        to "murder innocents"?

Honestly, do you believe that is his aim?

And, I'll ask you again, care to explain your depiction of Obama as being so simian?

A drone attack is not a sniper attack. Killing people other than the target is not a failed attack, its a consequence of a successful attack.

When a drone strikes a wedding party, where there is intel that one or more terrorist leader is located, the decision is not to kill that terrorist leader in isolation, its to kill the terrorist leader and everyone unfortunate enough to be in too close physical proximity to the terrorist leader.

The decision to murder innocents in the physical proximity of the terrorist leader is part and parcel of the decision to attack the terrorist leader with a drone. The technology makes the actions the same action so it implies the decisions are the same decision.

... and therefore also by the same logic undoubtedly fewer dead innocent American victims.

Since one drone attack can only kill people once, but can be used over and over again to recruit new terrorists, its not automatically the case that the terrorists killed by drone strikes outnumber the new terrorists recruited as a result of drone strikes.
