  •  what's wrong with Messiah? (1+ / 0-)

Not a name I would choose, but it's just a name.  It signifies hope for millions of  people.

    •  There's nothing wrong with it from where I sit (0+ / 0-)

But the judge is likely correct that it would offend a good number of people who place importance on that sort of thing.

      Money doesn't talk it swears.

name is meant to praise Christ and not to claim the kid actually IS the messiah (not that that should  make a whit of a difference).  And that most highly religious people would know and accept that.  Messiah IS a name that is common enough in some circles--(not to mention, as have others, the hundreds of thousands of 'Jesus's' in the world.  (or Christophers, for that matter...)

also you could find a small subset of people offended by any name.

The judge is a lunatic with no concept of church/state separation.

Now, if you were to name a child Adolph Hitler, or N*gger, or K*ke, I"m not sure what the rules are but there may be grounds for negligence on the part of the parents, if the kid were to run into difficulties later.
