    if higher tax and higher benefits result in greater solvency, isn't the implication that the internal ROR on social security is pretty crappy?  if the program actually paid out what you put in, then it shouldn't impact solvency at all, its just an asset and an equivalent liability.

      ...but this is a program built around the idea of a society that is built on work and rewards work, and doesn't let its elderly starve.

      No, the "math" doesn't reward wealth in this plan to the extent that some other investments might. But nor could those investments yield what they do in Somalia or some other place without a society to back investments up with productivity and regularity.

      Society and community are bedrocks of wealth for the top earners and the lowest earners. This plan treats them as part of the same society and community, which they are...inherently.
