  •  The Logan County Democratic Party had a dinner.. (8+ / 0-)

last night in honor of now long retired State Representative June Lyne. My wife and I attended, partly because we think a lot of June, and partly to get some concept of who now leads the Democratic Party in Logan County. I'll have to say I was unimpressed. I did not hear one word mentioned, either from the podium or in any conversation, about any state wide race or any issue that affects anything outside the borders of Logan County. The dinner included an auction, but the money it raised was for the upkeep of the local Democratic Party headquarters, not to help elect Democrats. Although much was said about the good things June and other women have done for Logan County, I felt like we were attending an old boys private club meeting. Even worse, old boys who likely vote Republican in state wide and national races.

Our annual Natcher Dinner honored Nick and Pat Kafoglis. Maybe your Logan County and my Warren County groups could start working together on some fronts.

get together. As the only one there who had actually served with June, he was called on to give a few brief comments. It was mentioned that he had also been recently honored. My impression stated in my original comment may have been a little harsh. In fairness, these were all local officials. I suppose I can understand the tendency of local leaders not to mention anything not concerning their immediate responsibility, so as not to risk offending anyone.
