All insurance companies would immediately go out of business. And I don't mean, "oh, no, they would lose money!". I mean they would all be bankrupt.
Somehow I doubt that. They are some of the largest and richest corporations on earth--larger and richer than most COUNTRIES in the world. I stopped listening to all their "we'll go broke boo hoo hoo !!!" sob stories decades ago, after hearing it about everything from ending child labor to minimum-wage laws. If all their sob stories were really true, there'd be NOBODY in business right now--they'd all have gone broke fifty years ago.  (yawn)

But suppose they DO go broke, take down their shingle, and close up shop.  Great---we don't need them anyway, and we can then replace them with what we SHOULD have had 50 years ago--a public health care system.  Win win.  (shrug)

$150 billion a year to provide health care to all its citizens, regardless of what condition they have.

The United Health Group corporation, all by itself, has annual revenues of a little over $100 billion per year. And that doesn't even count the other health care insurance megacorporations.

So I find the very idea that they'll go broke if they have to cover pre-existing conditions, laughably silly.
