  •  You're right; but he could still learn and improve (0+ / 0-)

First, your side, as I was indeed mistaken.

In his diary last Monday, Ted dropped in, glaringly, as a stand alone paragraph:

"99% fail rate. Heckuva job, Barry!"

Many Kossacks called him on it, starting with the first comment, and continuing at length.

Then in his diary on Friday, Ted dropped another "Barry" moment - but he did it in the middle of a paragraph, as if referring to general chatter, instead of owning it directly himself:

If Team Obama had been plotting Canadian-style socialized medicine all along, they wouldn't have floated all those dumb "heckuva job, Barry"-style excuses that turned into the president's Katrina moment:
So I not only think you were right, I believe Ted Rall was clothing his "Barry" in protective camouflage, to see if he could get away with it.

This does not mean that Ted Rall is a hardened and determined troll. I see it more as testing the climate here, exploring just how hard he can stick to his guns, before he gets arrested. Clearly, if he just keeps sticking to them, and sticking it to the man, there comes a point when he's nothing but an annoying troll.

Second, Ted's side. I've been there (less belligerently), and I've seen many Kossacks make similar flaming stands. In Ted's case, being blunt and prickly is part of his style of work, and lies deep in his personality.

From where Ted's standing, it's frustrating to write thousands of words, and have a whole gang of people fasten on just one of those, a nickname he may have used to Obama's face back when they were in college, and reduce the whole debate to an act of censorship. (I know people are finding other faults with his diaries; but he's taking a lot of flack for using one word, which is not criminal in general American discourse, just here on DKos).

Third, we'll see if he's man enough to keep engaging here at Daily Kos, and just let this "Barry" crap go. He's made his point, which connects to larger issues for him, about freedom to speak freely, and discuss things like adults; and also about his freedom to be 100% Ted Rall and, when he's putting thought and color into expressing his whole mind, to have us consider his largest points, and not just his smallest words. And, with 45 HRs in two days, we've made our point too.

One way or another, Ted Rall will wise up a little, or leave, or get pushed.
