    I found that in most of the 14 Lewis books I read.

    He aimed the Narnia books at children. And he put a Christian subtext there deliberately: Aslan was meant to be a Christ-story that children could fully grasp. Between the condescension and the proselytizing, I'm not surprised it was too much for you to stomach.

    He's capable of moments of bewitching wonder, and subtle empathy, and startling insight. But I wonder if he couldn't tell the difference between his best writing and his bullshitting - or perhaps he just didn't work hard enough at editing his work.
