there are better ones, and you can find them locally.  You don't need no friggin' BLOOMBERG to teach you anything! The network of WAPF is international, statewide and very local.  You buy meat and dairy if you want it LOCALLY.  :-)

the vast differences in how food is produced/grown, for example, industrialized ag vs sustainable practices.

Another good way to source local, organic food is through a CSA (community supported agriculture) or co-op.

    •  That an agriculture operation is certified (0+ / 0-)

"organic" does not mean such operations are clean and green.

It also does not mean such operations have low emissions.

Very large dairy CAFOs (i.e. 4 thousand+ animal units) can and do become certified organic operations.

Spreading process wastewater and dairy solids for field agriculture nitrogen application can pose substantial surface and groundwater quality risks....and for purposes of this particular problem there is little practical difference between
organic operations and industrial agriculture approaches reflecting USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service recommended technical methods.
