    Sep. 16, 2013 — An estimated 30,800 fewer invasive methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections occurred in the United States in 2011 compared to 2005, according to a study by Raymund Dantes, M.D., M.P.H., of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, and colleagues.

    One reason is that hospitals and others are putting a greater effort into blocking transmission. Those kinds of practices still work - but there was some slacking off back when it looked like antibiotics were the answer to everything.
