  •  I've never been to a Day of the Dead (4+ / 0-)

celebration but love the idea of it. I have some bits of decoration that I set out, my grandson made me one of them.

I collect Mexican folk art from the 30s and 40s. The kind of stuff that was sold to tourists, bean pots and platters ect. People don't realize what incredible art is in them, in some cases they were done by one family and sold to make ends meet.

They are for the most part Art Deco in illustrations and usually have some identifier so you know which artist did the work, like a deer or a certain type of cactus.

I have a lot of pieces that are like these examples. The second, fifth and eighth ones shown. I love them!

And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County Down by the Green River where Paradise lay. Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away. John Prine

      •  Glad you liked them (0+ / 0-)

Almost all of my pieces were bought at thrift shops. Now I never see them and only recently found out that they are worth that kind of money. I am thrilled that people are seeing them for the incredible pieces of art that they are.
