who are from the "post-plagiarism" age--half of thm don;t even know what plagiarism is because 1) they didn't need to do much writing for school where footnoting was required, or 2) they wrote their school papers the same way, lifting whole sections from wikipedia and other sources without attribution and overworked teachers never caught it (or cared)

Politics is like driving. To go backward put it in R. To go forward put it in D.

    •  Funny, though: Jon Favreau didn't plaigarize. (0+ / 0-)

Honesty must have a liberal bias.

        •  No. I'm saying just the opposite. (0+ / 0-)

My point is that even if you're correct about many younger speechwriters lifting Wikipedia passages wholesale -- something I don't doubt happens, especially if those folks have never been called out on it -- that's not something our guy's speechwriter has ever been accused of doing.

I hadn't even heard that about Favreau recycling bits of older speeches.

i thought you were accusing Favreau of something.

Honesty does not have a liberal bias.... i just think Favreau is an exceptional young man whose education included higher ethical standards than most

            •  I could accuse him of being a Bruins fan... (1+ / 0-)

...but that'd be about it, and I don't even know that (merely extrapolating from his Red Sox fan-ness). And even that's not nearly as bad as being a Red Wings fan! ;>)

As for the honesty bit, I was invoking Stephen Colbert's "reality has a well-known liberal bias" line from the 2006 White House Correspondents Association dinner.
