...but I got a sad today visiting the Help Desk and reading a discussion about meanness toward other new visitors trying to integrate. I mean, it really made me sad. And, mad, I guess.

There are some really mean posses and gangs that run around here slapping new people around with their authoritarian "mean girl" hate. I call them "church ladies." And if that doesn't work, they write tattletale emails to the admins trying to get them banned.

They are destructive, not constructive. And if I were running the site, they would be the first to be kicked out.

Clearly, they must get all hot and sexed up using their HRs and justifying their scolding ugliness. It is a terrible form of community management and turns people into little monsters. Over time, you'll recognize their names.

As for the book thing, there's a nasty little habit here. If you mention a book you wrote, people get mad and jealous inside, angry that you might earn 37 cents if you happen to sell one. That's been going on as long as I've been here. I'm an author, as well, but I would never ever mention a book of mine for that reason.

Maybe I would have disliked your Diary, I don't know. But if I did, you would never even know I was there. Generally, I spend a lot of time offering encouragement to new visitors, because I know those who are unique, or just a little different, or make one small mistake get their asses kicked around here.
