  •  Useta steal a lot of stuff from the Army (4+ / 0-)

We figured if it said US Army on then it was obviously meant for us because WE were in the US Army.
If you ever see a picture of a lrrp in a jeep, you can bet the farm the jeep was stolen. My team got its own jeep, we figured the one Congress meant for us probly got sent to Korea or Germany by mistake so we borrowed that one until they could straighten out the fuckup. We kept it hidden but ultimately it was stolen from us. There's just no end to human wickedness.
One time later when I was Ft Bragg in the 82d I was on detail at the central supply depot. There was a whole mountain of cases of fur lined pile caps but, even tho we were running maneuvers in the snow, no one in the company had one but ----wait for it----the officers.
You could get away with a lot in the Army as long as you had a sharp look, looked like you knew what you were doing and always had a "I dunno, some louie sent me to get these" story ready.
I marched 5 PFCs into the warehouse, told them to pick up a case apiece and marched them right out the gate past the guard. I looked like I knew what  was doing and no one stopped us.
We gave away the caps when we got back and were the only company in the field wearing them.
    This is called: freelance socialism
