  •  Yep. That's me. (12+ / 0-)

I pay $500/mo for my insurance (increasing by $30 come January, with an increase in deductibles and copays, AGAIN). I'll be switching to the Exchange. Right now, it looks like I'll be paying around $100/mo. But I haven't decided on a plan yet, as I have a couple variables to deal with. Like, where is my son going to be living come January, that's up in the air.

But since I have so much taken out per month, I can, in no way, pay for a new plan at the same time. I need to cancel my current insurance, that would then end December 31. And pay for new insurance effective Jan 1 (or later) Still have to find out if I can skip a month, or if I have to dig for pocket change. If I'm not mistaken, my December check won't have insurance taken out for soon to be old plan, but I don't get paid till December 31, so I might have to skip January, and start effective February 1, since a January 1 effective date must be paid for by December 15.

I can survive a month without insurance. And thanks to Obamacare, I don't have to worry about pre-existing conditions when I go without insurance for a month. I have had insurance, constantly, without a break, since 1998. So it's kind of scary. But I just need to call an agent to find out my options. But no point in hurrying. I have until November 30th to cancel current insurance.

I'd like to start a new meme: "No means no" is a misnomer. It should be "Only 'Yes' means yes." Just because someone doesn't say "No" doesn't mean they've given consent. If she didn't say "Yes", there is no consent.
