    I'm one of those right now.  I pay $32/month for the RX section of my Medicare Advantage policy.  I only have one prescription and it costs me $4.00 / month.  So I am subsidizing people who need multiple prescriptions that cost hundreds without insurance.  I see those folks when I wait at the pharmacy - some have 8 - 10 prescriptions.

    I look at it two ways:

    1.  I'm grateful to be healthy enough to not need several drugs to survive;

    2.  Sooner or later (ideally much later) I may not be so healthy and then I will be grateful to have the coverage.

    But then, I have been a DFH since my teens.

      that's what insurance is.  Especially when you're talking about health care, which you are likely to need when you age:  You pay in to have it if needed, and you when young and healthy to make sure it's there for you when old and infirm.
