  •  this is what the Dems must point out every time (4+ / 0-)

    they hear this.

The reason one's insurance plan is more expensive under the ACA is that it is actual insurance.  All these people who paid some nominal amount and never tested the boundaries of their policies are what the GOP is using to forward the meme that Obama lied when he said: "you can keep your insurance if you like it."

It was a mistake for the President to say this in the first place, because it forwarded the falsehood that the consumer was in charge.  They could "keep it."  It was never up to the consumer, it was ALWAYS up to the insurance company.

So the Dems must put the onus on the insurance companies for telling their customers that their junk policies no longer meet the regulations and now they must find real coverage on the exchange.

If the plutocrats begin the program, we will end it. -- Eugene Debs.

... anything. It's on us, and it's on the President and his spokespeople to explain this in VERY simple, brief terms. No geekity.

2014 IS COMING. Build up the Senate. Win back the House : 17 seats. Plus!

    •  Is the administration smart enough to act? (0+ / 0-)

This woman should be the poster child for ACA.  Obama should be running ads explaining exactly what her faux insurance did not cover, and then detailing exactly how much the basic policy she is eligible for under ACA will actually cover, and the actual cost after subsidy.

Or they can let it be a one day story on DK.

To avoid starting dumb wars, punish the dumb people who vote for them.
