But Americans will have object lessons, material experience, and psychological transformation from a first-time experience with guaranteed health security.

    That's a game changer.

Generally, what you are talking about are abstracts related to ideology -- off in some misty future. Economic policy has a lot of that. Abstract fear and loathing over the "scary big debt" or "scary brown people" and so forth -- the doctrine of hate and fear that is pushed by AM radio, leading to such things as Doomsday Preppers. Yes, the Republicans are good at infecting Americans with depravity.

But this time, everyone will know someone who is finally getting insulin regularly or not facing bankruptcy over an infected finger.

Hopefully, Democrats, this time, will take advantage of the advantages they have.

unscrupulous insurance companies dumping cancer patients because they didn't want to cover expensive claims.

The problem is that they don't realize it's time to refer to those object lessons when they're taking cover from the latest attack.  The cancellation letters episode illustrates.

People who operate from reason and logic expected those notifications to be received with tears of joy and celebration. Those policies were hated.  The policyholders were surveyed several times around 2006-2009 and they were a catalyst for the reforms.

      So much for object lessons.

      I know I'm too abstract. I need a translator.

There is no existence without doubt.

-- and share it where it intersects with lost opportunity and poor packaging.

But please consider that there is a power-difference between negative reinforcement (as in your example) and positive reinforcement (as in mine).

Positive reinforcement is a new kid on the object-lesson block.

I'm sort of counting on him....
