    Why would any voter be afraid of what could happen to them if they don't vote for Christie? Maybe a lot of people actually like him. That sounds a lot more likely than the weird reasons you are giving. Being from around here, yeah, people actually do like him a lot.

      I am thinking in terms of political and especially media figures in the state.  I also think that Christie does have the same appeal of the popular bully, in that they get to be on his side when he's going after people who aren't like them.  His policies have done the most harm to urban New Jersey, but folks in the white suburbs don't really like the people who live in Newark, Paterson, and Trenton to begin with.
