Betty. Not gonna give you an opening to bash PBO, and not gonna drag unneeded political discussions into my pleasant relationship with my hairdresser.

    •  Social Security is very important to these women (0+ / 0-)

Protecting it is the most important goal we can have for them, the POTUS is irrelevant unless he is also working to stop cuts.

Key Facts About Women & Social Security from the National Women's Law Center

Women and Social Security October 04, 2013

      Here's a sample

The average Social Security benefit for women 65 and older is about $12,700 per year.

Social Security benefits are lower for women than for men

Women rely even more on income from Social Security than men do

Unmarried women rely more on income from Social Security than married women do

Social Security provides disability and life insurance benefits that are especially important to women of color and their families

Despite Social Security, older women remain at greater risk of poverty than older men

More at the link.  Perhaps women would like to share these facts as well.  Chained CPI cuts will hurt them for many years to come.

If cutting Social Security & Medicare benefits for low income seniors is what Democrats do after they win a budget standoff, I'd hate to see what they do after they lose one.

re: the exchanges. My friendly hairdresser has pre-existing conditions, but now has the info needed to contact California Cares, our state exchange website. ("my pleasure") I have every confidence it will go well

Always wise to stay in good graces with "Edwina Scissorhands", doncha think?
