I feel so let down and embarrassed at how white people I know just aren't stepping up. I know I really have no right to feel let down as I should have expected it since my white friends are usually telling me that I'm so sensitive about "the race issue," but sheesh.

On the other hand, it made me realize how very lucky I am to have a husband who wanted to see it with me even though he generally has a policy of only watching movies with happy endings and excitedly talked about it with me for a long time on the long ride home. Now if I can just get him to watch "The Color Purple..." It would be nice to just start singing "Sistahhh" and not have him think I've lost my mind. ;)

On a more positive note (because I really want as many folks as possible to see this film), if it does well at the Oscars (OMG I am pulling for Lupita Nyong'o hard!), I think at least some of my more snobbish white friends might go see it.

Time is of no account with great thoughts, which are as fresh to-day as when they first passed through their authors' minds ages ago. - Samuel Smiles
