  •  you're right if they tried to do it (9+ / 0-)

    all at once.

But they don't and they won't.
    Alec is deviously patient.

They will plan and plan and plan.  They will dismantle things one piece at a time.  They will use inflammatory rhetoric to get people on their side.  And then, they can strike using the ALEC legislators who have dedicated themselves to "limited representative government" ready to wield the final blows.

They did that with the Vote ID bills and this is the new line in the sand that ALEC is drawing and they will try to cross it.

      ALEC’s nine Task Forces are:
      -Civil Justice
      -Commerce, Insurance, and Economic Development
      -Energy, Environmental and Agriculture
      -Health and Human Services
      -International Relations
      -Public Safety & Elections
      -Tax & Fiscal Policy
      -Telecommunications & Information Technology
These are their areas of planning, and there may be others by now.

We are all pupils in the eyes of God.

    •  I don't see any time limit on the states (1+ / 0-)

It appears that 2/3 of the states can call a convention to amend the Constitution without the Congress at all.  I don't see any time limit on their ability to pass resolutions calling for that convention.  One, by one, by ... until there's 34 resolutions passed, and viola'!, you've got a constitutional convention stuffed with Koch-bought "statesmen."
