  •  I pretty much gave up on that on election (8+ / 0-)

night, 2010.   And not solely because of the right wingers but also because of some progressives who thought they'd send a message by staying home that day.  How's that for gullibility?

gullibility has nothing to do with it. Stuff like ALEC has everything to do with it.

Well, assuming Dem leadership is embracing any ALEC policies. Do we know if any lessons have been learned to that end?

This all started with "what the Republicans did to language".

bashing, ok? i personally know of a progressive voter in fla who left a sickbed to vote in the 2010 mid-terms, so please stop repeating that myth.

btw, as i recall, the a-a vote didn't turn out in the same numbers in 2010 as they did in 2008, & that had something to do with the r's taking so many state houses, governorships, & the house.

      •  I said "some". And I distinctly remember Ed (0+ / 0-)

Schultz (although I'm not sure if he qualifies as a progressive) advocating staying home to send a message.  I think Jane Hamsher, David Sirota and Glenn Greenwald were in that camp too.

You know one progressive who got up off a sick bed to vote. Props to your friend but I hardly think one person disproves a myth.  Remember, too, that the plural of anecdote is not data.

I'm sure you're right about African American voters.  I guess the questin is:  is it worse to do the wrong thing on principle or through indifference?  Stay home to nurse hurt fee fees or because you don't realize the importance.  I dunno.  You pick.

BTW, if you EVER issue an order to me again, my reply won't be a polite as this.

        •  "issue an order" -- wtf are you talking about? (0+ / 0-)

if telling you to "please stop repeating" the myth about progressives choosing to stay at home during the 2010 elections is your idea of issuing you an order, then i've got another one for you: this is my last communication with you EVER.

          •  Re-read the first line of your comment. Sounds (0+ / 0-)

like an order to me.  I'm happy to hear this is our last communication.
