what many on the right have as a sort of catechism: "Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner".

Some lean on this quote mis-attributed to Alexander Tyler and also (possibly mis-attributed) to Alexis de Tocqueville:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.
Also distributed among the faithful is this - mis-attributed to Lincoln:
    * You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
    * You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
    * You cannot help little men by tearing down big men.
    * You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
    * You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
    * You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.
    * You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
    * You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.
    * You cannot build character and courage by destroying men's initiative and independence.
    * You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.
When you tie it all together there's the belief that the masses really can't be trusted to govern themselves, that we all need "wise men" to make the decisions for us. Plus democracy is bad because it leads to a publicly-funded social safety net (which can only come about by politicians "buying" our votes (of course bribery doesn't happen between politicos and corporate interests). This social safety net destroys our individual and collective character, making us dependent, hence slaves - "substituting Almighty Government for Almighty God" - and, O NOES!! WE'RE SLAVES!!

In some sense, we have policy by homily. We can't truly understand the RW mind without catching a glimpse of their folk wisdom.

liberal bias = failure to validate or sufficiently flatter the conservative narrative on any given subject
