    every OECD country.  that, to me, indicates that it would be very difficult for the American left to overcome a practice that is so deeply entrenched in the logic of tax.

    and our rate is high-ish compared to other countries, so query if it.can get much higher.

      What's "deeply entrenched," I think, is the notion that money invested in the stock market somehow deserves a preferential rate: that it grows jobs, grows companies, grows the economy. This is pretty much a total fiction; except for a trace amount, buying stocks is all aftermarket trading, having nothing to do with growing anything (except portfolios).

      I'll be doing what I can to get the above message out there.
