like I do.  Too little income to qualify for subsidies, but too much in retirement savings.  I need those savings to last at least 10 more years, which they won't if I have to buy insurance without the benefit of subsidies.
Maybe I should go splurge all my savings now on a fancy car or round-the-world cruise, then I can claim poverty.

    •  Where can I get low-cost care in my community? (0+ / 0-)
If you can't afford any health plan, you can get low-cost health care at a nearby community health center.
How much you pay depends on your income. Community health centers are located in both urban and rural areas and provide:

      prenatal care
      baby shots
      general primary care
referrals to specialized care, including mental health, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS

Locate a community center near you using the following link:

      •  sadly many places have no community health center (0+ / 0-)

I live in the county which last I heard has the highest rate of homelessness in NH. You would think this might go along with a need for a community health center. But a visit to the link above results in:

No Health Centers are found for this search
in the County of Carroll County, New Hampshire

Please search with a different location or modify your search criteria and try again.

solution to your problem. It is a pain in the ass, but losing your savings will probably hurt a great deal more.

    •  Did you check the definition of "income"? (4+ / 0-)

Those retirement savings generate income that may count for purposes of calculating the subsidy. If you're pulling money out of an IRA or 401k, that counts too. So does Social Security.

If you haven't had a conversation with a staff person for your exchange, please do call them and have them walk it through with you.
