        These are all systems and processes -- or journeys. All quite fluid, but with a overarching philosophy. Your description of the strivings of socialism is perfect.

            That's why we judge a system by looking at the lives of the most vulnerable. Do they have food security, shelter, health care, and education? We also judge by the social mobility scale:  can a child reasonably expect to do better than his father?
