    •  The bed they delivered tonight is called a (9+ / 0-)

"home bed". It has a remote to raise the head and foot. To raise the entire bed - it is a manual crank. So I had the install guy raise it to what I think is right for Chris. I'm 5'9" he's 6'2" but I am long in the legs and he is long in the torso. So I think we have it pretty close. Unlike the bed in the hospital, it does not show the degree of incline.

So! One of the guys in the park showed up during the install. He has had back surgery. He is like - you need to know the incline! He happens to be a wood worker. So he went down to his woodshop and brought me back a Stabila electronic level.

All I have to do is turn it on, put it on the bed rail and it will tell me what the incline degree is.

And oh yea - you folks that know sheeite about tools, I can't even imagine what that little trick POS costs. Mickey only has the best of tools. I am blessed with customers like Mickey.

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.

      •  There should have been a frame over the bed with a (7+ / 0-)

triangle thingie on a chain so he can reach up and help to reposition himself and shift in the bed. That you really need to have them get on, the angles involved in helping him move will be dangerous for your back over time. And you can't afford to hurt your back, too. Body mechanics are important.

Glad you have friends handy. :-)

        •  {{{FWG}}} The technology on this stuff is flaming (6+ / 0-)

fast. Everybody is amazed that he is not in any sort of body cast. NO BLT - No bending, lifting or twisting! He can log roll himself on the bed, get his feet on the floor. Then we strap on Mitch the brace and he uses the walker to get into the standing position. No need for the triangle thing. Tonight, a new PT taught him to put on Mitch the brace by himself!!! That is really amazing to me. It's kinda like a ski vest - three buckles on the chest with 2 straps across the shoulders. But it is two pieces - one for the back, one for the front.

            congrats and best of luck.

Amazing all the breakthroughs since I left practice just a decade ago. Glad it's going so well for the two of you. :-)
