    I think he has made it clear that his preference will be to use George after his grandfather in part for the reason you mention. In fact there would also be a bit of a controversy with the Scots and how they regard the Young Pretender ("Bonnie Prince Charlie")

    "William V" is also probably a no-no because of William IV's interference in politics - he was the last monarch to appoint a Prime Minister against the wishes of Parliament as well as being the last Hanovarian.

    After Victoria, the Saxe-Coburg Gothas (or Windsors if you will) have more or less stuck to George or Edward. As Edward has an unfortunate connotation from the 1930s, the choice does tend to be Hobson's.

      Forgot about the GGFather connection to the new baby...  Didn't know about the Windsor's deal with George and Edward
