    the path of the pipeline is one thing; once it reaches Kitimat, the tankers will have to navigate a narrow fjord, and pass the Indian village of Hartley Bay/Gitga'at. Check on Google Earth how narrow it gets down there... the North Pacific coast is hard to navigate b/c of topography, big tides, sudden winds and currents. All of this would also make recovery after an oil spill a fruitless effort. The local First Nations are still living off the land, and a previous accident, the sinking of the passenger ferry "Queen of the North", impacted their seafood harvest.

    Enbridge [the company behind the pipeline scheme] is saturating web, TV and local print with ads that show the pipeline in aquarel colours. One of their ads they had to pull b/c it omitted one of those inconvenient islands in the fjord.
