  •  Yes.... (14+ / 0-)

....when I was in college it was required to sign a pledge to uphold the school's honor code.  Plagiarism was offense numero uno and even a hint of it was dealt with quite seriously.  Clearly, Rand Paul enjoys a different set of standards.  Ugh.

Cheers to everyone here.....hope fall has been good to you and yours.  We are getting ready for our youngest son's college graduation and perhaps his move to Portland....Oregon!  Long ways from the little corner of NC he's called home for 22 years!  It's so exciting!
    Cheers to Bill and Michael!
    All love.

    •  Morning, alicia! (12+ / 0-)

Congrats to your son!  Did he get a job in Portland?  He'll love it there (and so will you).

      •  Good Morning! {{{Maudlin}}} (5+ / 0-)

No job, yet!  His girlfriend wants to apply to grad school there and needs to establish residency, hence the early move.....they'll both need jobs!  Wish them luck!  If I can manage the flight, I think I'll love it, too!  (There may be a long drive with a U-haul in our future.....how are they getting their stuff out there, anyway?) Thanks for the Congrats!  Hope all is well with you. :)

    •  Portland, OR is a nice place (8+ / 0-)

And Oregon is a lovely state with many interesting places. Mr. A and I spend a month camping in the Willamette NF, while we sold a car and bought a VW camper van, back in '92. Spent a lot of days at one of the (clothing optional) hot springs too.

What fun memories you must have!!!  Our son will have a degree in Environmental Sciences and did his internship with The Forestry Dept. last summer.  He's been told that Park Service jobs are pretty much nil for the moment so he hopes to volunteer and perhaps get his foot in the door that way.  Do you and Mr. A still have the camper?  My grandparents had one that was completely awesome...I always look at them when we go to music festivals.  Hope all is well up the mountain!

But he's criminally neglected, behind our house. Can't decide to sell him. Can't seem to decide to fix him. Meanwhile, he gets more and more decrepit.

We bought him in Eugene, OR and drove him down the coast, turned east at Santa Barbara and drove through AZ, NM, TX, OK, AK and TN, back to NC. Taking 8-9 months.

We didn't have to be anywhere, anytime...

how wonderful you and the mister had the time and seized the opportunity....as if you could pin down a favorite moment or sight, but if you could....what would it be?  I'm sure Buster is well loved despite his current condition.  We have an old Jeep CJ 5 in the same boat...

Camping in the Willamette really was wonderful. It was October and the trees were all covered with green moss and it was always raining, had just rained or was about to rain but, when the sun would shine, the trees would steam and the moss would glisten...
Also, the White Sands National Monument. Gypsum, not sand. It's Very White, and sort of soft, and scruches (sort of like dry snow does) as you walk on it and it's incredible when the sun sets.
Ooo, and the beach of stones we found in Maine (I can't remember where), that was musical, when you tossed one stone across the beach.
Sorry, that's more than one, isn't it. ;-)

Goodness me it was the trip of a lifetime.....with beautiful such memories!  The trees in the Willamette sound magical.  Thanks for sharing this.  Hope you have a treasure trove of photos.
