  •  NOT talking about road signs (1+ / 0-)

Talking about yard signs in people's own yards. I know they are not allowed by many HOAs but I am on a well-traveled road and have no HOA.

I was not contacted once. NOT once, Not by mail not by phone. Not for money not to volunteer not to vote. Not once.

OK I am a good Democrat, but where was the GOTV to get me to the polls? I am in a CRUCIAL county for turnout.

When I was more active we did better than this in LOCAL elections for pity sake.

Yard signs seem to have about the same effect on the "youth vote" which you do mention as road signs—zilch or ridicule. Both seem to, if anything, have a negative effect. I would venture that yard signs are almost purely for the "elderly" for most. Interesting observation of my neighborhood is that if there is a yard sign there are grey heads seen in the yard and driveways with a couple of exceptions (I've been interested in the phenomenon for years).

I don't know where you live so I've no idea why, only that in my Fairfax County area my experience was different. Twice had people knocking on my door, once for McAuliffe and once for the local candidate for Delegate. Got frequent e-mail from FCDC, many with considerable more substance than the fake petition crap that caused me to change settings on a couple of Democratic organizations straight to junk.
