    If your income puts you into the Medicaid range (133%) of poverty you can only take Medicaid unless you want to pay the full freight - no subsidies whatsoever - on a policy on your own.

    There is no choice under ACA wherein you can opt between Medicaid and a subsidized policy. If you are within 133% of the poverty line it is Medicaid or nothing.

      ... the lower threshold for the HIX subsidy is the poverty line, so in states where Medicaid expansion is being provided, the Medicaid expansion and the subsidized HIX policies overlap between the poverty line and ~1.4x the poverty line.

      You are confusing the fact that there is no alternative to expanded Medicaid for incomes, like mine, below the poverty line (yeah! modern college teaching!) with the overlap range.
